Watch , as in wrist watch, connoisseurs.
Too old for designer cobber, but growing up ,my old man always said always important to have a smart pair of shoes and nice watch.
First watch was really lucky as it was a present from my Dear Nan, A Tag, the most basic affordable one but I was chuffed. Smashed it to bits in the Army.Treated myself after one tour years ago to a Cartier Tank Solo. Loved that watch more than my wife, sad to say. Had to let the watch go as well years ago. Vowed never to wear a watch until I can afford a Cartier again. Not flash, just loved the watch and style.
An Army mate left me an Omega Seamaster when he passed away , but ended up giving to his oldest son when he turned 18. Feeling it was rightly his.
So any Watch freakies. What is the best watch you have owned? or like me lost?
I am stuck but happy as it does the trick and some how turned into a fad the old school Casio. From Old school days.
Also for connoisseurs, if lottery numbers came in, what is the best watch on the market in your opinion???

I'm very fond of my Speedmaster moonwatch. The habit of winding it daily when you get up and put it on helps you bond with the thing. Generally I like an automatic.

I'm fond of the more sporty numbers. Royal Oak and PP Aquanaut are not my thing though. Probably a nice ceramic Daytona will be the next purchase but likely a few years down the road.

Bought a Rolex Sea Dweller in 1988 for £1100 and sold it in 1998 for £1200, they now sell for £9k, doh!
Recently got myself a new Submariner after being on a year long waiting list, think I’ll hang on to this one.

Seiko 5 Sports Automatic.

Black face, proper bezel for timing stages, watertight to 10 atmospheres, steal strap. Under 200 quid. Keeps the time, job done.

I dont own an expensive watch but a story re watches

I used to work as a contractor in Guernsey for 18 months.

Earned decent money and worked with a couple of young guys that every month bought an expensive watch rather than spend any money living on the island.

I had a wife and kids so couldnt really afford it, but a good investment for them

Blancpain was mainly the brand they bought

I mean, who'd believe it? Working in Guernsey, for starters, then the madness of 2 blokes buying watches.

What a raconteur.
